Interactive Science For Inquiring Minds series is a comprehensive package written in accordance with the latest Science syllabus issued by the Singapore Ministry of Education. It comprises a textbook in two volumes, theory workbooks, practical workbooks.
The Interactive Science Theory Workbooks are written as companions to the textbooks and practical workbooks to provide students with ample practice to consolidate what they have learnt.
Features of the theory workbooks include:
- Activities that are fully or partially guided to provide opportunities for students to acquire and develop science process skills, manipulative skills and creativity in the learning of science. They also seek to inculcate in students scientific attitudes.
- Portfolio Assessments encourage students to further explore each topic through thought-provoking questions that are closely related to the practical activities.
- Using IT promotes the use of internet resources for students to further explore each topic independently and in groups using the inquiry approach and to broaden their scientific knowledge.
- Revision activities consist of varied question types and questions with different level of difficulty.
Each activity has clearly defined aims, background information and many illustrations to guide the students along. The activities are designed to help students acquire the necessary process skills and provide opportunities for hands-on learning. They are also designed to infuse information technology (IT), national education (NE), critical, creative and self-regulated thinking into the learning of science. Questions are provided in every activity to help the students draw inferences and conclusions.
A revision worksheet is included in each chapter. Each revision worksheet has multiple choice questions, short-answer or structured questions and a data response question. It helps to evaluate the student' understanding of each chapter and to provide ample examinations practice for the students.
