Our recommendation:

The textbooks can be used in a school or home setting. By themselves, they provide interesting information about science, with lots of fascinating tidbits and pictures, along with ideas for further exploration and links to some internet sites, similar to a science magazine. The textbooks are more of a jumping off point than a complete curriculum. Questions are posed in the reading, and some simple activities are included, but the textbook does not include experiments or end-of-chapter questions. Hands-on activities and assessments are found in the other components of this series. Suggested answers to the questions posed in the textbook are found in the Teacher’s Guide.
